EPFO extends deadline for uploading pension wage details

New Delhi: EPFO has extended the deadline by five months for employers to upload wage details and other relevant information regarding pension on higher wages.

This decision comes in response to representations made by employers and employers’ associations.

Previously, an online facility was introduced by EPFO for the submission of applications for the validation of option/joint options for pension on higher wages.

This facility, in compliance with the Supreme Court order dated November 4, 2022, was initially made available on February 26, 2023, with a deadline set for May 3, 2023. However, due to representations from employees, the time limit was extended to June 26, 2023, providing eligible pensioners and members with a complete four months for filing applications.

A last opportunity of 15 days was further granted until July 11, 2023, for eligible pensioners/members to address any difficulties. As of this date, 17.49 lakh applications for the validation of option/joint options had been received.

Following representations from employers and employers’ associations requesting an extension for uploading wage details of applicant pensioners/members, employers were given an additional three months until September 30, 2023.

This deadline was later extended to December 31, 2023, due to continued requests for more time, Govt said.

Despite these extensions, more than 3.6 lakh applications for the validation of option/joint options are still pending with employers for processing.

“To address this backlog and ensure the processing of these applications, the Chairman, CBT EPF, has approved another extension until May 31, 2024, for employers to upload wage details online and complete other necessary tasks.”
