Srinagar:The All Jammu and Kashmir Plumbers Association (AJKPA) expressed gratitude on Monday to the LG-led administration for addressing the issue of PHE (Public Health Engineering) employees engaging in private work during government duty hours.
Manzoor Ahmed Dar, President of AJKPA, in this regard, conveyed their appreciation during a press conference held here.
Dar highlighted the concern that some PHE employees were adversely impacting the livelihood of private plumbers by performing plumbing tasks during their official duty hours.
He said that the AJKPA had brought this matter to the attention of authorities, urging them to address the illegal activities of these PHE employees.
“We had raised the issue with the authorities, requesting them to curb the illegal activities of some PHE employees who, instead of doing their work, are doing the job of private plumbers, thus affecting their livelihood,” said Dar.
He further informed that the LG administration has taken cognizance of the matter and issued a circular to prohibit PHE employees from engaging in private work during duty hours.
During the press conference, Dar displayed the government circular, which stated, “It has come to the notice of this Directorate through various representations that field staff/employees of this Department are indulging in private jobs during duty hours resulting in a compromise in the deliverance of their Govt. Service.”
The circular emphasized the seriousness of the issue and directed all subordinate officers of the department to closely monitor the activities of employees, especially those working in the field. It urged them to take immediate necessary action as warranted under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Conduct Rules to curb such practices and ensure the proper execution of government services.
