HADP envisions future where farming thrives, ecosystems flourish

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is poised for a transformative leap. The Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), with its ambitious 29 projects, envisions a future where farming thrives, ecosystems flourish, and prosperity blossoms.

An official while talking to Precious Kashmir said, “This program isn’t just about tilling soil; it’s about sowing the seeds of a robust and sustainable agricultural economy.”

He said, “HADP intends to bring 7500 hectares under high-density fruit cultivation and boost productivity in existing orchards. But it’s not just about fruits; vegetables, honey, and spices will also be given importance in diversifying the agricultural landscape and creating a vibrant tapestry of economic opportunities.”

According to the officials the HADP empowers farmers with the tools they need to become masters of their fields. “Knowledge dissemination through 43 online courses in local languages equips them with modern farming techniques and best practices. Farmers’ lives won’t just be enriched with knowledge; access to advanced technology and machinery through the program will ease their burden and increase efficiency,” the officials added.

“HADP doesn’t shy away from addressing the challenges faced by marginal and landless farmers. It dedicates itself to their upliftment through dedicated funding, technical support, and policy interventions. By creating a level playing field, the program fosters inclusivity and ensures that no farmer is left behind in the march towards prosperity,” they said.

In the HADP program environment friendly practices like organic farming and soil conservation are prioritized ensuring long-term health for the agricultural ecosystem.

“The HADP’s impact won’t be confined to fields. By boosting agricultural output and creating new avenues for value addition, it promises to ripple through the J&K economy. Enhanced income for farmers will translate into increased purchasing power, fueling growth in allied sectors like food processing and rural infrastructure. This creates a virtuous cycle of prosperity, benefiting not just farmers but the entire community,” the officials said, “This transformative program is not just about numbers; it’s about dreams taking root, about a region blossoming into an agricultural powerhouse, and about a future where J&K harvests not just crops, but prosperity for all.”

J&K Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, after inaugurating a divisional level mega Kisan Mela in Srinagar recently, said, “The HADP initiative is a major step towards creating a sustainable and profitable agricultural ecosystem. It aims to empower farmers so that they can contribute towards the overall growth of the agriculture sector.”

He said that objective of the program is to enhance agricultural productivity, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the overall economic growth.
