Srinagar: In a remarkable stride towards improving governance and fostering transparency, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, with over 1075 e-services at the forefront, marking the highest in the country.
An official while talking to Precious Kashmir said, “These e-services are bolstered by a series of related IT initiatives, including MobileDost, Rapid Assessment System, DigiDost for doorstep delivery of e-services, and the integration of services with DigiLocker. As a result, citizens are experiencing a closer connection to the government, paving the way for efficient public service delivery.”
He said, “This ambitious endeavor reflects the government’s dedication to streamlining the interaction between the government and its citizens while ensuring accessibility and transparency. The latest official data highlights the immense success of these initiatives, with over 52 lakh applications processed for availing various services in the online mode, and an impressive 42 lakh of those applications already disposed of.”
Notably, the 1075 e-services encompass a wide array of sectors, including education, healthcare, revenue, and transport. These services can be accessed through the official government portal, providing residents with the convenience of accessing vital information and availing services without the need to visit government offices physically. This approach has been particularly beneficial for those living in remote and hilly regions where accessing government offices was traditionally a challenge.
“One of the key aspects of this initiative is the MobileDost application, which empowers citizens to avail of services through their smartphones. With more than 50% of J&K’s population having access to smartphones, this application has become a game-changer for people seeking government services. It allows for service requests, document submissions, and real-time tracking of the status of their applications, making the entire process far more convenient and accessible,” said another official.
“The Rapid Assessment System is another notable achievement, ensuring swift evaluation of applications and their disposal. By utilizing advanced analytics and automated processes, this system enables efficient management and quicker resolution of citizens’ concerns. This, in turn, fosters trust in the government’s ability to deliver essential services promptly,” he added.
“DigiDost, the doorstep delivery service for e-services, further cements the government’s commitment to ensuring no citizen is left behind. The service employs government agents who visit people’s homes, particularly in remote areas, to assist with the application process and collect necessary documents. This approach caters to individuals who may not be technologically inclined or face barriers in accessing e-services through traditional means,” the official said.
“Linking services with DigiLocker, a national digital document storage platform, is yet another strategic move by the J&K government. This integration allows citizens to store and access their essential documents securely online, simplifying the process of furnishing documents for various government services. It reduces paperwork, minimizes the risk of document loss, and promotes digital record-keeping,” he added.
