Teachers equipping younger generation to face life challenges

Srinagar: In the changing education scenario, teachers have shown courage and will to adapt to the change they are playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the younger generation.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha while addressing a function recently highlighted the significant role of teachers in building a knowledge society and to empower and prepare youth for growth of the nation, in the fast-changing economic scenario.“Education sector is undergoing through an interesting phase of transition and development. Our education system must impart both modern knowledge and values to the students. It should stimulate passion quotient in the students and not just be confined to information,” LG Sinha said.
An observer while talking to Precious Kashmir said, “Teachers are not only imparting knowledge but also instilling values and life skills, equipping the younger generation to face the myriad challenges life throws at them. The present education system is undergoing a fascinating transition and development, reflecting the evolving needs of society.”
He said, “There is no doubt about the fact that teachers are the architects of a knowledge society, and their influence extends far beyond the classroom. Their role extends to not only nurturing intellectual growth but also fostering the holistic development of students. In doing so, they prepare the youth to become responsible, empathetic, and well-rounded citizens who can contribute positively to the nation.”
Pertinently, one of the primary functions of teachers is to impart knowledge. They are responsible for delivering the curriculum and ensuring that students acquire the necessary academic skills and information. However, the role of teachers goes beyond the transmission of facts. They inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a thirst for learning. In an age where information is easily accessible, teachers guide students on how to filter, assess, and apply knowledge, allowing them to differentiate between credible sources and misinformation.
An educationist said, “Teachers are instrumental in building a value-based education system. They instill essential life values such as honesty, integrity, respect, and responsibility. By providing a moral compass, teachers help students make ethical decisions and navigate the complexities of life. This moral foundation is crucial for nurturing a society where individuals contribute positively and ethically to the nation’s growth.”
He said, “In addition to academic knowledge and values, teachers also play a key role in equipping youth with essential life skills. These skills include problem-solving, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and resilience. With life’s challenges becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable, these skills are indispensable for personal and professional success. Teachers create an environment where students can develop these skills through projects, debates, and extracurricular activities.”
