Drug peddler arrested in Ganderbal: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday said to have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, a Police Party led by SHO PS Safapora under the supervision of DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Asham-Safapora crossing intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK04A-8598, ridden by one person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said.

“During search, officers were able to recover contraband substance (Charas) from his possession. He has been identified as Yasir Hassan Parray son of Gh Hassan Parray resident of Parray Mohalla Asham Bandipora. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 38/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Safapora & investigation has been taken up.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
