Anantnag: The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag and its Associated Hospitals are set to participate in the 3rd National Pharmacovigilance Week, scheduled to take place from September 17th to September 23rd, 2023.
Dr Farhana said that this annual event is aimed at promoting awareness about pharmacovigilance and enhancing public confidence in medication safety.
The theme for this year’s National Pharmacovigilance Week is “Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance.” He further added that associated Hospital of GMC Anantnag will provide all necessary logistics and man power support to make the Campaign successful.
Dr Sami Magray, Head Dept of Pharmacology, GMC Anantnag said that Pharmacovigilance is a vital aspect of healthcare, ensuring that medications are used safely and effectively. To celebrate this week, GMC Anantnag and its Associated Hospitals have organized a series of events and activities to engage both healthcare professionals and the general public.
Activities and Highlights:
Adverse Drug Reactions Awareness: One of the key objectives of this week is to educate the public about adverse drug reactions (ADRs). ADRs can have serious consequences, and it’s crucial for individuals to recognize and report them. GMC Anantnag will be disseminating information on how to identify and report ADRs, both online and through outreach programs.
Poster Making Competition among MBBS students: As a way to encourage budding healthcare professionals, GMC Anantnag is organizing a poster making competition exclusively for MBBS students. The competition will provide a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents while conveying the importance of pharmacovigilance through creative expression.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Drug Safety: Healthcare practitioners play a pivotal role in pharmacovigilance. To further enhance their knowledge and skills, a CME on drug safety will be conducted. This event will bring together experts in the field to share insights, best practices, and the latest developments in pharmacovigilance.
Quiz on Pharmacovigilance: To test and enrich the knowledge of healthcare professionals and students, a quiz on pharmacovigilance will be organized. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their expertise and win prizes.
