Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is all set to observe “Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K” (Corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir) week from 4th to 10th September.
“This initiative aims to create awareness, educate the public, and build a collective sentiment against corrupt practices,” an official told Precious Kashmir.
Pertinently, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta earlier this week asked all the departments to be firm in resolve to make J&K corruption free.
While stressing upon the transparent and accountable governance, the Chief Secretary issued directions for the launch of “Brashtachar Mukt J&K campaign” in all the 20 districts of J&K.
The Chief Secretary had emphasized on active participation of all the concerned officials, officers along with PRIs and public during the “Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K” campaign.
He had directed that all Prabhari Officers shall ensure that the matters of public importance pertaining to their Panchayats, wards, areas are flagged and appropriately addressed during the week.
Emphasizing the significance of the initiative, an official said, “Corruption is a menace that hampers the growth and development of any society. We are committed to eradicating this corrupt culture from the roots, and the ‘Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K’ week is a crucial step towards achieving that goal.”
He said, “During the week, extensive community outreach programs will be conducted to spread awareness among the general public. The administration intends to involve everyone in the campaign to highlight the adverse impact of corruption on society and the collective responsibility to eradicate it.”
“In addition to raising awareness, the week-long observance will also focus on accountability mechanisms to deter corruption attempts. Special complaint centers will be established in each district to promptly address any corruption-related grievances. Citizens will be encouraged to report any instances of corruption they witness, ensuring that their identities are kept confidential, and appropriate actions are taken against the culprits,” the official added.
“The Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K week is a reaffirmation of the commitment to build a society free from the shackles of corruption. By fostering a collective spirit and engaging the public, this movement aims to create a long-lasting impact, inspiring future generations to value integrity and integrity in all aspects of life,” an official said, adding, “To ensure a successful implementation of the initiative, directions have been passed to all administrative officials to actively participate and support the awareness programs. Their commitment to transparency and integrity will set an example for others and strengthen the resolve to root out corruption completely.”
