Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Habba Kadal Constituency Incharge, Arif Laigroo on Tuesday felicitated the newly constituted Zonal Committee for his constituency.
“I congratulate all those who have been elected today and bestowed with different responsibilities. We are fortunate enough that the senior party leadership called for the constitution of Zonal Committee at the right time, just before municipal elections. Now, it is the collective duty of this committee to work at the grassroots level and prepare for upcoming municipal elections, Laigroo said.
Highlighting the importance of local body elections, Laigroo while addressing the elected members said, “The public is facing various issues and it is our duty to find out these issues and come up with a solution. Elections to the local bodies provide us a great opportunity to serve the public and address many public issues. Thus, we must sensitize the public about these possibilities and be ready to serve the public.”
Habba Kadal Zonal Committee was democratically elected, on 19th of August, through an election, the statement said, adding that Syed Bari Andrabi, PDP’s Pulwama district President, who’s also the DDC Chairman Pulwama, was the returning officer for this election while PDP’s District President Srinagar, Abdul Qayum Bhat was an observer.
According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Sameer Ul Jameed was elected as the President of Habba Kadal Zonal Committee, Aman Zargar and Burhan Batloo as Vice Presidents, Fayaz Ahmad Rah as General Secretary, Sheikh Numan as Organizing Secretary, Sheikh Haroon Rashid as Publicity Secretary and Abdul Rashid Khawajwal as Treasurer of the newly elected committee.
Members to the Zonal Committee and District Committee’s Electoral College were also elected.
