6 LeT aides held in Budgam, Baramulla: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police alongwith security forces have arrested three terrorist associates linked with LeT in Budgam and recovered incriminating materials from their possession.

Police along with Army (62 RR) arrested 03 terrorist associates in Khansahab area of district Budgam. They have been identified as Qaisar Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Kremshora, Tahir Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Wagar & Aqib Rashed Ganie son of Abdul Rashed Ganie resident of Wagar, linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT, a police spokesman said.

Incriminating materials including one Chinese hand grenade, two magazines and 57 live rounds have been recovered from their possession. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation, police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab and investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, J&K Police along with Army in Baramulla busted a terror module by arresting three terrorist associates linked with LeT. Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition have also been recovered from their possession, police said.

During joint patrolling and area domination exercise in Churunda Uri, a joint team of Baramulla Police & Army (16 SIKHLI) noticed a suspicious person who attempted to flee upon spotting the patrolling party. However, the suspect was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Showkat Ali Awan son of Abdul Karim Awan resident of Churunda Uri, a police spokesman said.

During search, 02 grenades were recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was shifted to police station where he was put under sustained questioning. During questioning, he disclosed the names of his accomplices as Ahmad Din son of Shukur Din & Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana son of Umer Din, both residents of Churunda Uri, who were subsequently arrested. On their disclosure, 02 grenades, 01 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine, 4 live rounds & other incriminating materials were recovered, police said.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the arrested terrorist associates were involved in cross border smuggling of arms & ammunition at the behest of Pakistan based terror handlers and further its distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities, police added.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and investigation has been initiated.
