Chairing a review-cum-consultation meeting on Cyber Security, capacity building of knowledge based industries and reforms in the School Education sector, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha rightly stressed on the need to systematically identify and to bridge the gaps in School Education sector in terms of Infrastructure, Skill development at par with Global standards.
There is surely a need for improving the learning outcome, use of technology, focus on Emotional quotient (EQ) and Intelligence Quotient (IQ) to make learning a joyful activity.
The school education department, managements and education planners, domain experts need to work together for quality education.
As has been correctly emphasised by the Lieutenant Governor, the objective has to bring at par the schools in Jammu and Kashmir with best in the country in terms of well-equipped laboratories and faculties
He directed the school education department to introduce the reform in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions on a pilot basis in selected schools.
There is also need for creation of a database of alumni from IIT and IIM, who would subsequently adopt students from different schools for handholding and guidance.
As per experts, understanding where students may need additional support remains essential, but the process of closing learning gaps doesn’t stop there. Learning acceleration programs are recurring in nature, student progress is not a fixed target. From one unit to the next, experts say, continuous reassessment and targeted support remains key components of success.
Teachers need to employ a variety of whole-class and small-group instructional strategies to help bridge specific gaps in understanding, the experts underline and need to be incorporated.
To help teachers identify and bridge learning gaps in the classroom, various strategies are to be devised.
In contemporary times, there is absolutely no scope for those who would lag behind in adopting technological advances like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Metaverse etc.
It is important to note that in every aspect of life be it teaching-learning, administration, entertainment, agriculture, commerce and industry, there is going to be a sea of change that even cannot be imagined today. There is need to understand the fact that the technology lag is ill affordable and needs to be addressed before it is too late. Tools like Metaverse, Block Chain, Augmented & Virtual Reality or Extended Reality are going to pose challenges in each facet of life. If any sector is caught unprepared, same shall have to suffer. There is need to adopt technology in all facets and the educational sector cannot be an exception. In fact, the education sector has to adopt it at a much higher pace than others.
