Srinagar: An annual general meeting of the Tosamaidan Development Forum Action Committee was held on Friday at Satharan Khag Budgam, in which various issues related to the development of Road from Satharan to Tosamaidan and provisions of Forest Rights Act 2006 discussed
The road to Tosamaidan in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district is in shambles while the promises of the government to develop it as one of the leading tourist destinations is still a distant dream.
Chairman TDF Raja Manzoor said that the road leading to Tosamaidan is completely in shambles for the last one decade, adding that the then government had announced plans to develop the area as a tourist destination.
“However, even the first step towards developing the area as a tourist destination is yet to be taken,” he said. “It sans road connectivity and no initiative has been taken to develop the road to connect the World’s most attractive tourism destination.”
Vice Chairman Abdul Hameed said that the government has always ignored their problems. “Construction of this road, which was started in 2008, is still incomplete due to which local people and tourists are facing a lot of difficulties. The condition of the road is so bad that it has become difficult for locals and tourists to travel,” he said.
“If this road will get repaired and macadamized, it will be a big relief for the people and will also attract tourists towards Tosamaidan,” Chief Patron of TDF Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-ud-in said.
He also demanded that the seven kilometer stretch from Satharan to Tosamaidan should be macadamized without any delay.
Sheikh Maqbool Chief Spokesperson TDF discussed in a detail about the updates, highlights, background, amendments, provisions, key features, importance and the implementation of the Forests Rights Act 2006.
