Police constable injured in militant attack last year, succumbs

ADGP Kumar conveys heartfelt sympathies, condolences to the family

Srinagar: A police head constable who was injured around 11 months before in a militant attack at Lal Bazar succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura on Monday.

Officials told a local news gathering agency that a head constable of Police who was injured in Lal Bazar firing incident in July last year and was admitted in SKIMS Soura has succumbed to his injuries today.

 

They identified him as Fayaz Ahmad Raina son of Khazar Muhammad resident of  Dudkul Kokernag Anantnag and said that since receiving injuries last year, he wasn’t keeping well.

He had a severe infection that has affected his kidney as well due to which he died today.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police held a wreath laying ceremony to pay homage to policeman at his native village. “ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar on behalf of J&K Police Parivar conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty,” the police said.
“We pay our rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty and stand by his family at this crucial juncture,” ADGP Kumar said.

Senior police officials and locals of the area participated in the ceremony and laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the deceased policeman.

Later, hundreds of people participated in his last rites before he was buried in a local graveyard.

Pertinently , an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mushtaq Ahmad was killed while the two constables, Fayaz Ahmad and Abu Bakar, were injured in militant attack in Lal  Bazar Srinagar on July 12 last year. ( With inputs from KNO).
