Srinagar: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Srinagar, Ministry of Youth Services and Sports, Government of India and Ahsan Foundation J&K as part of World Environment week—2023 celebrations on the eve of World Environment Day 2023 organised a seminar on the theme “Mission Life, Lifestyle for Environment” on Monday at Rambail.
The programme started with the welcome address by Chairman Ahsan Foundation J&K Rahi Riyaz Ahmed, who highlighted the role played by environmental awareness in creating a more sustainable world and the importance of environmental education under the National Educational Policy.
He introduced the programme and gave details of the week-long events.
The keynote speaker, Hafeeza gave an extended and elaborated lecture on the significance of World Environment Day and explained the significance of sustainability in the day to day life and how to attain an environmentally sound development.
On the occasion, Nazir Be Nazir, Chairman of National Society for the protection of water resources, wetlands and forests discussed the theme of this year i.e. “Promotion of Millets in Diet”, which focused on living sustainable harmony with nature.
Be-nazir said that organizing such programs aims to share ideas, knowledge and experiences, which will encourage the stakeholder for the collective transformative environmental action for our ‘Promotion of Millets in Diet’.
The need was to highlight key issues that could contribute to protecting our environment and to discuss the importance of a safe and healthy environment, he said.
Riyaz Ahmad Social Worker and Ashiq Hussain a sportsperson and special invitees on the occasion gave a speech on the human impact on the environment and the need to live sustainably.
On the occasion, a debate competition was also held on importance of environment.
The programme was attended by more than hundred members of Youth Clubs and Mahila Mandals.
