Srinagar: The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Srinagar with the support of National Water Mission’s (NWM) & Ahsan Foundation has successfully organized Jal Samvad, Jal Copal with the tagline ‘catch the rain where it falls, when it falls’.

The aim of the project was to nudge the states and stake holders to create appropriate Rain Water Harvesting Structure (RWHS) suitable to the climate conditions and sub soil strata before monsoon, a statement issued here reads.

Under this campaign drives to make check dams water harvesting pits, rooftop RWHS removal of encroachments and desisting of tanks to increase the storage capacity removal of obstructions in the channels which bring water to them from the catchment areas repairs to step wells and using defunct to bore wells unused wells to put water back to aquifers etc. were taken up with the active participation of people and particularly the youth.

For the same a launching function for catch the rain when it falls where it falls was today organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Srinagar & Jal Shakti Department at Behama the following dignitaries were present during the function.

JE Water Works  Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger, Rahi Riyaz Ahmad TOT, Chairman Ahsan Foundation, Mohammad Rafiq Sofi, Shahnaza, Hafeeza and Shabir Ahmad Ganie Field Supervisor of Jal Shakti.

All the dignitaries elaborated the importance of water in the life how to use it and how to harvest the rain water .the planet is our and only we can save and secure our future.

At least 102 participants from different youth clubs of Nehru Yuva Kendra Srinagar participated in the program and an oath was taken by all the participants to save the water and catch the rain when it falls where it falls.
