12-yr-old boy with rare tumor operated at GMC Anantnag

Anantnag: A 12-year-old boy with a very rare vascular tumor involving the region deep inside the nose and arising from skull base was operated on Tuesday at Govt Medical College (GMC) Anantnag Anantnag.

Operating this kind of tumor is a big leap in the achievements and evolution of ENT Department of GMC Anantnag. The surgery took 4 to 5 hours and the procedure was done without any complications. This tumor is also known as Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JNA), a statement issued here reads.

This particular case was operated by a combined endoscopic and lateral Rhinotomy approaches. ENT Surgical team was headed by Prof (Dr) Sajad Majid Qazi besides Dr Salman Khursheed (Consultant), Dr Amir Yousuf(Assos Prof) and Dr Ehsan (Registrar). The Anaesthesia team was headed by Prof (Dr) Imtiyaz Naqash besides Dr Zaffar Malik (Ass Prof) Dr Omer (Registrar) and Dr Mehraj. The patient is doing well in post operative period.
