Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police party led by SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari during naka checking near Hospital crossing Barmulla intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 15 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued here.
Similarly in Kulgam, a police party headed by incharge PP Frisal during naka checking at Damidulla Crossing intercepted one person identified as Tariq Ahmad Kuchay son of Abdul Majeed Kuchay resident of Kadder Kulgam. During search, 05 Cannabis sticks (105 grams) were recovered from his possession.
Police said that both the drug peddlers have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, police said that the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
