Police book 3 notorious drug smugglers

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have booked 03 notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla. Besides, destroys poppy cultivation in various parts of the district.

The notorious drug peddlers namely Zubair Ahmad Pandith son of Mohammad Hayat, Javaid Rasool Mir son of Ghulam Rasool, both residents of Gantmulla Payeen & Azad Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Aziz Mir resident of Dardkote Uri have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention here that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Sheeri, Uri and other areas of district Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

Meanwhile, a police party of Police Post Mirgund led by IC PP Mirgund alongwith concerned Magistrate destroyed illegally cultivated poppy on approx. 1/2 Kanal of land at Alambal Pattan.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Sheeri led by SHO PS Sheeri alongwith concerned Magistrate destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy on approx. 1/2 Kanal of land at Fatehgarh Sheeri.

Subsequently, cases under relevant sections law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.

Consistent actions of Police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
