2 notorious drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Bla: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Wednesday have booked two notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act, besides two other persons were also booked under PSA for anti-national activities.

The two notorious drug smugglers are identified as Mohammad Afsar Khan @ Afsar son of Mohd Muzaffar Khan resident of Binner Baramulla & Tariq Ahmad Sheikh son of Faqir Mohd Sheikh resident of Sheikh Colony Khawajabagh Baramulla. They have been booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority & subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, a police spokesman said.

It’s pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these drug peddlers and they were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Town Baramulla and other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth, police said.

Moreover, police said that two persons identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Mir Zaman Mir resident of Dachi & Syed Khaki Shah son of Razak Hussain Shah resident of Madiyan Kamalkote involved in anti-national activities have been detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.

It’s pertinent to mention that many cases are registered against these persons and they were involved in anti-national activities. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities, police said.

“Consistent actions of Police against the criminals should reassure the community members that police is making all efforts to eradicate social evils and making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse,” police said.
