Don’t paint walls around Rawalpora power grid station: SMC Commissioner  

Srinagar: Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ather Aamir Khan Friday said that all those commercial establishments who have unauthorizedly painted the boundary walls of power grid station Rawalpora with huge commercial advertisements will be fined soon.

Earlier the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Assad acting on the complaint of a social activist Arshad Dijoo  had personally informed the Municipal Commissioner Srinagar about the unauthorized painting of commercial advertisements on the grid station walls which comprises of a sensitive government department at a prime location.

Dijoo upon finding the power grid station boundary walls painted with huge fluorescent commercial advertisements had taken up the matter with the district administration Srinagar and also with the Jammu & Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation officers.

While talking to this reporter Arshad said that he had also talked to the Station Incharge Power Grid Rawalpora Er.Owais Ahmed who acknowledged that “indeed the painted commercial advertisements on government property was illegal and without their permission”.

“Today morning I was surprised to find out that the boundary walls of the Power Grid Station Rawalpora an exclusive government property was painted in different hues with  mega commercial advertisements of different firms on full display.

 

In disbelief I tried to find out how was it possible that a government property is being used to display private commercial advertisements.

Therefore I contacted the officers at the helm in the Jammu & Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation and was surprised to know that the advertisements were illegal & unauthorized.

And immediately I brought the same into the notice of the district administration and the Municipal Commissioner”. Arshad said.

 

Arshad said that the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Assad on his own had also informed the Municipal Commissioner Srinagar who assured action by imposing penalties on these deviant commercial businesses.
