Support children in choosing careers: Kashmir’s first female pilot urges parents

Handwara: Kashmir’s first commercial pilot Captain Sami Ara on Tuesday said the valley’s youth are “no lesser than anyone” and that they can achieve everything. She also urged the parents to support their children in choosing the right careers.

Sami Ara, hailing from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, was interacting with students of an educational institute in the Handwara subdivision of the Kupwara district.

According to KNO, her visit to the institute was aimed to boost and encourage students besides addressing their queries on how to achieve and dream big in life.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Ara said she has been in touch with the students of Kashmir Valley through online mode to answer their queries. “I have always aimed to help students of Kashmir, make them understand that everything is achievable. I always intend to help in every possible manner for their good,” she said.

Captain Sami said she has been counseling students about the vast opportunities in the air services, and pilots in particular. “A lot of openings are happenings across the country. I have even been telling students about a few subjects in their higher secondary level as well,” she said.

“Parents need to have faith in their children. It will help and motivate them. Parental support is very important at every stage. They need to find solutions for their children rather than scolding them,” she added.

Sami added, “Generally, we see a developed infrastructure in countries like US and Canada but the development in terms of the same has seen a greater push in the recent past.”

Cautioning students about the drug menace, she said they need to focus on their careers. “Even if for once they think of taking any harmful substance their lives will be ruined without any doubt,” she said.

Meanwhile, the students hailed the session with Kashmir’s first female commercial pilot. They said their perspectives about a lot of things have changed. “The interaction session was full of knowledge and enlightenment. We feel much relieved and motivated about the choices to be made in the future. We are even told about the company we choose has a greater impact on one life,” they said—(KNO)
