Ganderbal: The Srinagar-Kargil road remained closed for the 8th consecutive day on Monday following the fresh snowfall and avalanches along the Zojila Pass on the road.
The highway was closed on 18 April after a snow avalanche hit vehicles near Shaitan Nallah Zojila as a result 8 vehicles mostly trucks laden with eatables were buried beneath snow.
Border Roads Organization had declared that highway will remain closed till April 22, because of road widening.
However, today also the highway was shut owing to snowfall.
“In view of snow accumulation/avalanches there shall be ‘no vehicular movement’ on 24-04-2023 (Monday) through Zojila” the Kargil Police tweeted.
Meanwhile, scores of passenger vehicles as well as trucks are stationed at Sonamarg and on the side of Kargil waiting for the nod from the administration. (KNT)
