Horticulture awareness camp organized at Bla

Baramulla: A one day awareness camp was on Thursday organized by the department of Horticulture (planning & Marketing) under the supervision of area Marketing officer Baramulla at Fruit & Vegetable Mandi Kanispora.

The program was conducted for creating the awareness among the growers about Post harvest management,Prime Minister’s formalization of Micro processing Enterprises (PMFME), ODOP and holistic agriculture development program.

District Horticulture Officer Shakeel Ahmad during his speech discussed threadbare the government scheme which have been launched for the benefit of growers. He emphasized on the adoption of One District One Product (ODOP) scheme which has been now been converged into PMFME to broaden the scope of the scheme.

He gave details on how the people who are already in some business activity can further their business volume by taking benefit of this scheme. He also on the occasion advised the growers about the pesticide schedule and their timely adherence.

President Fruit Association in his speech focused on the distressing situation the growers had to undergo last year which he vehemently asked the fellow growers to take care of this year. He advised the growers that we need to adopt to new marketing efforts so that the produce is able to fetch us good returns.

Area Marketing Officer Baramulla Gulam Rasool Noon in speech deliberated upon the E-NAM which he described would be a game changer for the growers as it will bring transparency in the business and expand new markets for them. He emphasized growers on adopting new marketing techniques and stressed upon them to focus on better grading.
