Budgam woman murdered, chopped into pieces, accused arrested: Police

Budgam: In a shocking incident, Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday recovered the decomposed body parts of a woman aged about 30 years, who was chopped into pieces after the murder & dumped at a different location of district Budgam. 

The woman was missing from 7 March and her family had filed a missing complaint with the police on 8 March and it came to light on Sunday, police said.

Upon investigation, Budgam police nabbed one prime suspect identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani, resident of Mohandpora Budgam with the help of technical support and family, they said.

After interrogation the accused Shabir confessed to having murdered the missing girl and the accused revealed that he chopped the woman’s body into many pieces and buried the parts at different locations. All the parts of the body have been recovered and medico-legal formalities are underway, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam in a press conference.

“On March 8, Tanveer Ahmad Khan of Soibug Budgam submitted an application to the Police Post Soibugh stating that his sister (name withheld), age 30 yrs left for the coaching classes on March 07 but didn’t return home. In this regard, the missing report was registered and the investigation was started. Police rounded up several suspects including Shabir Ahmad Wani S/O Abdul Aziz Wani R/O Mohandpora Budgam,” police said in a statement.

The statement added, “After sustained interrogation, Shabir confessed to having murdered the missing girl. To hide his crime, the culprit had cut the body into pieces and buried the parts at different locations. On his disclosure, the parts have been recovered. Medico-legal formalities are underway. The investigation is on.”
