GSI team visits land sinking site in Ramban

Ramban: A team of Geological Survey of India (GSI) on Tuesday visited the hilly Duksar Dalwa village of Ramban district to ascertain the reasons behind the land “sinking” which has so far damaged 16 houses, officials said.

Officials told a local news gathering agency that a team of experts from Geological Survey of India (GSI) visited Duksar, Dalwa village today to ascertain the reasons for sinking of the land/ geological event.

They said so far 16 houses have been damaged and families have been shifted to safer places, besides providing tents, blankets and utensils to them.

“The 33-kV power transmission line passing through the village and a 500-metre Sangaldan-Gool road street was also damaged in the land sinking incident”, officials said.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Mussarat Islam along with sub divisional and district officers visited areas witnessing land sinking where he interacted with the affected families whose houses were damaged due to sinking of land.

The DC assured them of providing every possible help from the district administration. (KNO)
