4 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam, Bla: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“A police party of PS Qazigund under the supervision of SHO PS Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach Crossing intercepted two suspected person identified as Maqsood Ahmad Naikoo son of Sanaullah Naikoo resident of Nussu Qazigund and Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Tachloo Qaimoh. During checking, officers were able to recover 220 grams of Charas and 03 grams of Heroin from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody,” a police spokesman said.

Similarly in Baramulla, a police party of PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Khaipora Crossing arrested a drug peddler identified as Ab Rehman Dar son of Late Lassa Dar resident of Nadirgund Khaipora Tangmarg. During checking, 180 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession, police said.

Meanwhile in another action, a police party of PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Mirgund Crossing Pattan, arrested a drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohammad resident of Sozeth Lawaypora. During checking, officers were able to recover 120 grams of Charas from his possession, police added.

Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
