Srinagar: On the directions of Director Health services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, a mental health awareness campaign will be launched across Kashmir valley from Saturday.
The campaign will officially be launched tomorrow at 2 PM by Director Health Services Kashmir. Director Health Services Kashmir today held a two-hour-long deliberation with psychiatrists of valley in presence of nodal officer Mental Health programme Dr. Majid Shafi.
Dr Kaiser Habib senior cardiologist of valley was also present in the meeting.
Director Health services took inputs from psychiatric specialists about prevalence and magnitude of the disease in the valley.
He stressed upon Psychiatrists to effectively work for the success of this campaign focus on trainings of Medical officer’s, IEC activities on social electronic and print Media.
He directed that a proper and meaningful road map shall be prepared for this campaign, so as to reach more and more people. He said that Mental Health is a priority sector for government and His Excellency governor of the UT is very keen for promotion of Mental Health in UT.
He said Secretary Health and Medical Education Bhopinder Kumar has been consistently laying stress on promotive and preventive Health care.
