Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
“A police party led by SHO PS Kheerbawani Insp. Mudasir Zaroo at a checkpoint established at Hatbura arrested two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmad Ganie son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie and Fayaz Ah Dar son of Gh Hassan Dar, both residents of Kachan Ganderbal. During the search, officers were able to recover psychotropic substances from their possession,” a police spokesman said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 04/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kheerbawani and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
