Gun brought to Kashmir after NC’s rigging in 1987 polls: Altaf Thakur

‘Post Article 370, militancy graph all-time low’

Srinagar: Reacting to National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah for claiming that post abrogation of Article 370, Kashmir saw rise in gun and militancy related incidents, senior BJP leader and party’s JK spokesman Altaf Thakur on Tuesday said that gun was born after NC resorted to rigging in 1987 that produced dreaded militants like Muhammad Yousuf alias Syed Salahudin and Yasin Malik, who brought guns in the Valley.

Thakur, in a statement, said that it was due to the rigging done by NC that Kashmiri youth picked up guns due to which hundreds of people were killed.

He said post Article 370 abrogation, militancy related incidents are all-time low and the shadow of gun also decreased to a large extent to which figures are the enough proof.

Tahkur said people of JK heaved a sigh of relief post article 370 and enjoyed peace dividends. “Those who are responsible for introducing guns in Kashmir should go through the official figures of militancy related incidents and militants killed. Isn’t this a reality that there has been no hartal since past three years, no law and order situation and no stone pelting? Isn’t this a fact that schools and colleges functioned normally for the past three years? Post article 370 roll back, JK turned into a most peaceful zone,” Thakur said.

He said as far as Rajouri incident is concerned, such acts are carried out in desperation to show presence. Thakur said that Omar should realize that people under the slogan “Apni Madad Aap karo” are ready to become VDC members, get training and protect their areas themselves.
