Drug peddler held in Bla: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla on Thursday have arrested a drug peddler and recovered Contraband substances from his possession.

“A police party of Police Post Mirgund led by In-charge PP Mirgund SI Ather Parvaiz intercepted a suspicious person coming from Narbal towards Mirgund, who seeing the police team tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. He has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Mir son of Mohd Amin Mir resident of Panzinara Srinagar. During the search, 130 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession. The arrested drug peddler was shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” a police spokesman said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
