‘Samples taken to ascertain cause of death’
Banihal: Four of a family were found dead under ‘mysterious circumstances’ in Banihal area of Ramban district on Wednesday.
An official told a local news gathering agency that four bodies of a family including three siblings were found inside the house in Checknarwa Chopan Pora area of Banihal. The dead family members include mother, two daughters and a son.
The official said that the cause of death was being ascertained, while post mortem of bodies have been conducted.
“Samples have also been taken from the spot including food they ate last evening”, he said. He identified the deceased as Noor Jahan, wife of Abdul Rashid, Zaffer Ahmad, son of Abdul Rashid, Shazia Bano daughter of Abdul Rashid and Asiya Bano Daughter of Abdul Rashid.
Station House Officer (SHO) Banihal, Muhammad Afzal Wani said that four bodies have been recovered and they were ascertaining the further details.
However, locals said that the family must have apparently died of asphyxiation caused by inhaling the gas emanating from a coal heater which they had kept in the room due to intense cold. (KNO)
