Kashmir records sub-zero temp

Srinagar: The Kashmir valley continued to record sub-zero temperature for the second straight night on Wednesday-Thursday while the famous tourist destination, Pahalgam was yet again the coldest place in the Valley at minus 4.4 degree Celsius.

Details available said that Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a similar minimum temperature as the previous night at minus 0.8 degree Celsius.

The other parts of the Valley also recorded sub-zero temperatures, officials said.

The world famous ski-resort, Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.4 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a temperature of minus 2.4 degree Celsius in the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday.

As per the details available, the mercury in Kokernag in South Kashmir settled at minus 1.0 degree Celsius while in Qazigund the minimum temperature was recorded a low of 2.0 degree Celsius.

Pertinently, there is no forecast of any wet spell during the next few days. Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT) had said that the weather would remain mostly dry till the end of this month. (KNO)
