Commuters found using high beam, LED lights, strips fined

Srinagar: Traffic Police, Srinagar continued to act tough against the commuters for using high beam lights in the City areas as several people, who were found violating the norms, were fined on Wednesday evening.

Pertinently, use of high beams is prohibited in city limits under section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the drive today near Zero Bridge, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) City Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah said that the drive has been launched to act against the commuters, who are found using high beam lights or have installed LED lights or strips.

“These LED lights and high beams increase the threat of accidents while plying on the busiest roads. It is not highway and thus the commuters should only opt to use low beam lights to prevent the road accidents in evening,” he said

“We have launched the drive to take action against the offenders and also remove the LED strips from the vehicles,” he said.

SSP City Traffic also appealed people to commute responsibly on the roads. (KNO)
