2 drug peddlers held in Bla: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesman said that a Police party under the supervision of SHO PS Pattan and Incharge PP Palhalan during naka checking at Zangam Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Alto Car) bearing registration number JK05E-6826 with two persons on board.

During search, officers were able to recover 300Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from their possession. They have been identified as Jehangir Ahmad Lone son of Mohd Sabir Lone and Ashaq Hussain Magloo son of Mohd Ramzan Magloo, both residents of Chennad, Baramulla. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
