Srinagar: Police in Handwara claimed to have solved a theft case within hours by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from their possession.
“On 10th of November 2022, a case FIR No. 295/2022 under relevant sections of law regarding theft of electronic gadgets and other essential tools from forest range office Handwara was registered at Police Station Handwara,” a police spokesman said.
Acting swiftly, a team led by SHO Handwara started the investigation & developed some leads. Based on these leads, statements of witnesses & technical evidence, 03 persons involved in the offence were identified, traced and arrested. They have been identified as Amjid Sheikh son of Ab Majeed, Irshad Ahmad Sheikh son of Sana-ul-lah Sheikh, both residents of Sheikh Colony Bagatpora Handwara & Hilal Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohd resident of Sher Colony Sopore, police said.
“On their disclosure, the investigating team recovered stolen items including LCD, Grass Cutter, Gas Cylinder, Inverter Battery, Printer, Photostat Machine etc from their possession,” police said, adding that further investigation into the matter is going on to ascertain further involvement of the accused persons in other similar cases.
