Simplicity Holds The Key

Research has revealed that ready-to-eat meals i.e. ultraprocessed food like pre-packaged soups, sauces, frozen pizza etc. can kill a person early in life.
The research should serve as an eye opener for the people in Kashmir who have become used to consuming ultraprocessed food rather than the fresh food items.
Doctors and experts do keep on telling the people that they should not eat ultraprocessed food items and ready to serve meals but many of us don’t pay any heed to their advice and do eat whatever we want.
During the past few years dietary habits in Kashmir have changed. People prefer the ultraproccessed food over the natural food.
Simplicity has replaced extravagance. People from high income groups are more prone to falling sick than the ones from low income groups.
The consumption of ultraprocessed foods containing little or no whole foods in their ingredients is the major cause for most of the diseases prevalent in Kashmir.
People have removed healthy foods from their diet charts and spend on such food items which are enough to make them sick for rest of their lives.
Ready-to-eat-or-heat industrial formulations made with ingredients extracted from foods or synthesised in laboratories have replaced traditional foods and meals made from fresh and minimally processed ingredients.
Studies have revealed that ingredients, such as sodium, sugar and trans fats, and specific foods or drinks, such as sugar sweetened beverages are taking a heavy toll on the health of people and they don’t realize the ill effects till they reach a stage which becomes irreversible in their lives.
The people should understand that ultraprocessed foods account for more than half of total caloric intake and these calories when taken in excess become a poison for the body.
It’s high time for people in Kashmir to take a look at their dietary habits and revert back to the traditional foods they used to consume. If they keep on relishing the ultraprocessed foods the day is not far when the entire population in Kashmir will face health issues and their lifespans will be reduced drastically.
People need to remember that excess of everything is bad. Simplicity holds the key to making our lives healthier.
