4 held for illegal extraction, transportation of minerals: Police

Budgam: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four persons and seized four vehicles in Budgam.

Police Station Budgam received information about illegal extraction and transportation of clay at Sholipora Budgam. Acting swiftly, a Police party of PS Budgam raided the specific location and seized three tippers and a JCB besides, arrested four persons identified as Gulzar Ahmed Ganie resident of New Colony Kakanmaran, Imityaz Ahmad Chopan resident of Sholipora Budgam, Mohammad Ashraf Mir & Farooq Ahmed Khuchoo both residents of Firdous Colony Bemina involved in the commission of crime.  They have been shifted to PS where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under FIR number 374/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, police said that persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. “Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units,” police said.
