2 notorious drug peddlers arrested in Gbl: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesman said that a Police party of Police Station Lar at a checkpoint established at Tehsilbagh Khranihama arrested two notorious drug peddlers identified as Aqib Nazir Wani son of Nazir Ahmad Wani and Shamim Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi, both residents of Tullamulla Ganderbal. During the search, 700 grams of Bhung Patri was recovered from their possession.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 64/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Lar and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said.
