Budgam minority attack case: Police produce chargesheet against 4 accused    

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday produced chargesheet against four accused persons including a juvenile in connection with an attack on minority community in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on August 15.

In a handout Police said that chargesheet against accused— three adults and a juvenile —were filed in connection with case at Gopalpora Chadoora. The adults have been identified as  Altaf Farooq Rather son of Farooq Ahmad Rather of Dharambugh Kralpora, Suhail Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Hamid Malik of Panzan Chadoora and Faizan Khursheed Panjabi son of Khursheed Ahmad of Dharambugh Kralpora.

According to the police, at around 2015 hours on August 15 this year, a grenade attack took place on a minority house  at Gopalpora Chadoora in which one member of minority community namely Karan Kumar son of Anil Kumar of Gopalpora Chadoora got injured and was evacuated to the hospital.

Upon this, he said, a case (FIR no. 147/2022) under sections 307 IPC and 16 ULA(P) Act was registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation taken up. During investigation of the case, offences under section 307 IPC , 16, 18 ,23 39 ULA(P) was established against the accused including the juvenile, he said. The chargesheet was produced before Competent Court in 72 days after obtaining the Sanction from the Competent Authority, reads the statement.
