Govt helps to train youth in skills: Union MoS

Visits drug de-addiction centre Purkhoo, interacts with victims

Jammu: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik Monday visited Mashwara Drug De-addiction Centre at Purkhoo here.

During the visit, the Minister interacted with inmates and encouraged them to commit to life and plan for a brighter future for themselves and their families. She said that with the right intervention, love and care, all the victims of drug abuse could come back to normal life and become active members of society.

At the centre, the Minister also conversed with senior police officers and instructed them to eradicate the drug menace in the society. She also interacted with centre administrators and advised them to get the inmates involved in skill training and help them to take benefits of self employment schemes of the Government.

“The Government helps to train youth in skills like mobile phone repairing, tailoring, computer repair, good crafts, among others in the nearest training centres and also helps in providing appropriate placement and low interest loans to them for setting up self enterprises”, the minister informed said.

During the visit, the minister also inspected the facilities established within the centre.

Those present at the occasion included Director of the centre, Pallavi Singh; Sarpanch, Rajni Devi; Sarpanch Naresh Singh; Naib Sarpanch, Satpal Sharma and other PRI members.
