The Anti Corruption Bureau has registered 111 cases in 2022 against the government officials for accepting bribe, their involvement in embezzlement of funds, disproportionate assets and other cases.
The accused include 16 top Revenue department officials including Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and Patwaris. Most of them were trapped while accepting bribes at different places.
The ACB acting tough against the corrupt officials has sent a strong message to one and all i.e. there is zero-tolerance to corruption and anyone who crosses the line will have to face the law of the land.
During the past three years the ACB has been empowered by the government and the Bureau is working without any interference. The ACB officials are investigating complaints on merit and the genuine cases are being dealt with on priority.
The ACB acting promptly has encouraged more and more people to come forward and raise their voice against the elements who misuse their official positions and exploit the common people.
The ACB nailing the corrupt has made all the government employees conscious that they are being watched and if they indulge in any sort of misadventure they will have to face consequences.
The administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has made the employees accountable and has driven home a point that neither the deadwood, nor the corrupt will be tolerated, and the system has to function in a transparent manner.
The work culture in the offices has improved. Officials no longer keep the files pending as they don’t want to end up in trouble. They are aware of the fact that even a single complaint can put them under scanner.
The war against corruption has intensified in Jammu and Kashmir as the complaints are being disposed of on merit and the challans against the accused are being filed promptly. The entire system has been revamped.
In order to prevent fake complaints the government recently issued a circular that the anonymous complaints won’t be entertained. Whoever wants to file a complaint will have to give his proper name and address. The culture of anonymity has ended as the system has become transparent and responsive. Corrupt elements stand cornered.
