SED’s Final Call

The School Education Department has taken a final call. It has decided to implement the Uniform Academic Calendar thereby the exams of Classes 1-9 will be conducted in March now.
The decision will help the students to study for the entire academic year and would make it easy for them to compete with the students from other places. The SED had earlier announced that exams for class 10th and 12th will be held in March from this year and now it has decided that exams for class 1 to 9 will also be conducted in March.
The uniform academic session is an opportunity for the students to get well versed with what they study throughout the years. This would also help them in getting them well versed with their subjects and would also equip them to compete with the outside world. In a nutshell they would get enough time to revise their entire syllabus.
To do away with the October-November session is a good decision and everyone should support it. The Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) after a detailed survey had recommended long back that the J&K schools should implement a uniform academic calendar.
The SCERT had forwarded a proposal to the Principal Secretary, School Education Department and the orders to implement it were issued last week.
The decision is all set to benefit the students and the ones who are opposing it should understand that the decision would help lakhs of students as it has brought them at par with the students of other states and union territories.
The students should utilize the extra time they have got to work harder rather than believing that they have got enough time to prepare. They should understand that the time that has been added to their academic calendar has been done with a purpose so that they master their skills.
More than anyone else it’s the responsibility of the parents to look after their children and see to it that they don’t waste their time.
All Kashmir schools switching to March session has made it clear that coaching centers can enroll the students only once in a year and there would be no double admission season for them.
