Srinagar: Thousands of devotees thronged Hazratbal and others shrine here and elsewhere on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) which was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety on Sunday.
The biggest congregation was held at Dargah Hazratbal here where thousands of devotees including men, women and children converged to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) after five-time prayers.
Local administration had made special arrangements and traffic was manned to ensure smooth movement.
Besides sprawling Hazratbal, special congregational prayers were at Janab Sahib Soura, Asar-i-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-i-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahib (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA). Hundreds of people thronged the Hazratbal and other shrines for night long prayers on the occasion yesterday.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, his advisor, politicians and police officers greeted the people on the eve of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi.
In a message, the Lt Governor said, “On the auspicious occasion of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet, I convey my greetings and good wishes to all. The Holy Prophet showed us the path of compassion, love and righteous living. May his teachings of universal love and compassion guide each one of us to live in harmony and unity and bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all”.
In his greetings, Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said that the message of universal brotherhood, compassion, tolerance and service to humanity preached by Prophet guides and inspires us all to live a righteous and productive life.
The Advisor also prayed for the progress and prosperity of entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Director General of Police J&K, Dilbag Singh also conveyed heartiest wishes to the people of the J&K and members of Police and families on the auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi(SAW).
In his message, the DGP prayed for joy and happiness.
He expressed hope that this occasion would be the harbinger of peace, progress, prosperity and happiness and would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, which are the hallmarks of J&K’s glorious pluralistic traditions.
Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar also extended warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad to the people of Kashmir.
“On the auspicious occasion of Eid Milad, ADGP Kashmir extends warm greetings and prays for the peace and prosperity for the people across Kashmir,” he said in a statement.
SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal (IPS) wished all citizens on the auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad. He extends his greetings on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad to the people of Srinagar by praying for peace, prosperity and brotherhood of all on this auspicious day.
