Set Your Priorities

The social media is keeping everyone busy as technology has turned the world into a global village. There is no harm in people socializing with each other on facebook, instagram, twitter and other apps but remaining busy on social media every time has taken a heavy toll on the social life of the people.
They spend more time on social networking sites than their families. This trend has set a wrong precedent and is taking people away from each other. It often happens that four family members sitting in one room don’t even talk to each other and remain glued to their mobile phones.
One can understand that mobiles have become a necessity but that doesn’t mean we spend the time meant for our families on the gadgets that take us away from the real world.
Most of us need to understand that family is important than socializing on social media. Parents have to lead from the front and set an example for their children. First of all they need to detach themselves from mobile phones and other gadgets. It’s them who have to tell their children that more than mobiles it’s them who are important to them.
Another responsibility which parents need to take is that they have to keep a vigil over the activities of their children. They cannot turn a blind eye and allow their children to go astray.
Social media is fine but it’s no alternative for personal relations. These have to be maintained at any cost. There is no harm in making new friends on social media but that doesn’t mean that one forgets his old friends and other priorities.
It’s not only social media which has taken a toll on personal relations. Online games too have become a part of the lives of many people. It has been observed that people spend hours on mobile phones just to play these games which take them into an entirely different world. These games have a direct impact on the behavior of people. They tend to develop anger issues and become more aggressive, especially the youngsters. Elders should encourage young people to play outdoor games so that they remain active and smart rather than sitting at one place. The energies need to be utilized in a positive manner.
Social media and other online activities can be a time pass and not a priority. We need to learn to fix our priorities and family should be the first priority.
