DC Srinagar visits SPS Library MA Road

Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Friday visited SPS Library, M A Road to oversee the its functioning and facilities available there for the visiting Students.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Director Libraries and Research, Mohammad Rafi, Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Mohammad Yaseen and other concerned officers.

On the occasion, the DC inspected various compartments of the Library and was appraised about the centuries old repository of  Manuscripts, Rare Books and Miniature etc.

During the visit, the DC also interacted with the students/scholars and enquired about the facilities available at the SPS Library.

The Students also put forth several demands before the Deputy Commissioner including providing of backup for uninterrupted power supply and high speed Internet access in the Library.

The Demand for providing adequate parking space was also flagged before the DC.

The DC gave patient hearing to the students and assured them that all their genuine demands would be looked on priority.

The DC advised the students to take maximum benefit from the valuable collection present in the Library.

Pertinent to mention that the Library was established in 1904 and has a repository of around 6000 centuries old rare manuscripts in 17 languages encompassing varied fields including religious, philosophical, historical, literary and scientific writings that can prove very helpful to scholars and researchers.
