Aziz Hajini infused new life to Kashmiri language, literature: Speakers

Litterateurs, academia, bureaucrats remember Hajini on his 1st anniversary

Srinagar: The famous literary figure, author of more than two dozen books, poet, critic and former secretary of Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Aziz Hajini was fondly remembered by scores of literary stalwarts, academicians and senior bureaucrats in a function which was organized in connection with his first death anniversary at Tagore Hall here.

Aziz Hajini Day was jointly organized by Halqu e Adab Sonawari (HAS) and Wahab Cultural Society Hajin (WCS) under the patronage of Kashmiri’s largest amalgam of literary bodies Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK).

The first session of the programme was presided over by the renowned physician Dr. Ghulam Qadir Alaqaband while Commissioner Srinagar Municpal Corporation and young IAS officer Athar Amir Khan was the chief guest. Bharat Singh Secretary J&K Academy Of Art, Culture and Languages, Professor Neerja Mattu and Sanaullah Niyaz were also present in the presidium of this session.

Well-known Kashmiri poet and critic Prof. Shad Ramzan delivered the keynote speech on “Different Aspects of Aziz Hajni’s Personality”.

In the second session of the programme, the famous Sufi poet Gulzar Hajini was awarded ‘Khilati Aziz Hajini’ while Rifat Rasool was awarded the ‘Aziz Hajini Gold Medal’ for securing the first position in BA Kashmiri.

Four books  which includes a special Aziz Hajini number of the annual magazine of Halqa e Adab Sonawari  “Wolarek Mallar”, “Aziz Hajni Aks Teh Anhar” of Wahab Cultural Society, “Aziz Hajini-Wophh Teh Voodav” compiled by Abdul Khaliq Shams and “Wohmie Sadie Hond Kashur Nasar” compiled by Asmat Hajini were also released in the event. Dr. Gulzar and Mehraj Bin Saif read their papers on two of these books.

Jameel Ansari and Municipal Committee Hajin were awarded with the appreciation Mementos by HAS for their unconditional support to the organization in organizing various functions. Apart from this, certificates were awarded to Tourism Department (Kashmir), Taksheela Sumbal, Sabqas Academy Hajin, Yawar Garments Hajin and Sultania Steel for their financial support in the publishing of Wulrik Mallar.

The second session of the day-long literary function was presided over by Professor Zaman Azudrah while Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Aijaz Asad was the chief guest. President AMK J&K Muhammad Amin Bhat, ADC Bandipora Wasim Raja, former secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Zafar Iqbal Minhas, former Station Director AIR Srinagar and famous Urdu poet Rukhsana Jabeen and Media Secretary of HAS and son of Late Aziz Hajini Azhar Hajni were also present in the presidium of the pre-lunch session.

The event started at 10:30 am with the recitation of Holly Quranic verses by Qari Muhammad Shafi. Bilal Ahmed presented a Naat e Rasool (SAW) written by the deceased poet. A Fateh Khwani was also offered for late Dr Hajini.

While calling Aziz Hajini mentor and guide of hundreds of youngsters and lovers of Kashmiri language and literature like him, Shakir Shafi, President HAS, in his welcome speech spoke about those initiatives of the literary organization which are being taken to preserve, promote and propagate the Kashmiri language and its literature.

While recalling how his father was concerned about the cause of Kashmiri language till his last breaths, Late Hajini’s son Azhar Hajini thanked all the participants for their gracious presence in the programme and offered an unconditional support to all the Kashmir based literary bodies which are working for the promotion and propagation of Kashmiri language.

Dr Riyaz ul Hassan, Rashid Nizami and Shabnam Tilgami conducted proceedings of different sessions.

In the post-lunch and last session of the program, a Literary Forum was organized by Sahitya Akademi New Delhi which was presided over by Prof. Iqbal Nazki while as Ghulam Nabi Atesh, Dr Riyaz ul Hasan and Shehbaz Hakabari also participated.
