4 LeT militant aides held in Sopore: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four Militant associates by busting its module in North Kashmir’s Sopore.

Police said that today at about 16:20 hours ,a joint naka was established by PC Sopore along with 22 RR and 179 CRPF at Gousiabad Chowk Chinkipora in the jurisdiction of Police  station Sopore.

According to the police spokesman, during checking, a suspicious movement of two persons coming from Dangerpora towards Chinkipora was noted and were subsequently asked to stop, but they tried to flee from the spot, however were tactfully apprehended by the vigilant  security forces at about 16:50 hours. Upon their personal search two grenades were recovered from their possession. During preliminary questioning, they revealed their identity as Shakir Akber Gojree son of Muhammad Akbar Gojree resident of Kuloosa Bandipora and Mohsin Wani son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani resident of Chinad Baramulla.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons are OGW`S of organization LeT and were in a constant search of an opportunity to carry out attacks on security forces and civilians. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police station Sopore under relevant sections of law, he said.

During the course of investigation apprehended OGWs further revealed names of other OGW associates which led to the arrest and recovery of further arms and ammunition which includes one Chinese pistol, one pistol magazine, 7 live pistol rounds, 25 AK 47 rounds and explosive material.

The names of other OGWs are as Himayun Shariq son of Shariq Rasheed Dar resident of Gousiabad Chinkipora Sopore and Faizan Ashraf Wani son of Mohd Ashraf Wani resident of Nadihal Rafiabad. Further investigation is going on, reads the statement.
