Another blow to JKPCC as Taj Mohiuddin quits party

Srinagar: Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir received yet another blow when former Minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohiuddin announced his resignation from the basic membership of the party and joined Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference here in Srinagar Taj Mohiuddin announced his exit from all posts of the party and joined Azad.

“I have written to the Congress President as I am the All India Congress Committee (AICC) member that I am resigning from all the posts including the basic membership of the Congress committee”, he told media persons in Srinagar today.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the basic membership of the Congress party on Friday and had announced to float his own party very soon.

He said, “there is nothing left in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and said, On this day I resign from the basic membership of the party”.

Taj Mohiuddin is the 6th congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir who have resigned from the basic membership of the party so far and joined Azad.

“If need be, we will join hands with National Conference (NC) or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but wouldn’t go with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)”. He swears that the leaders who have joined the Azad have nothing to do with the BJP.

He said “We are secular people and remain with secular contents always”. “We will never go with the BJP”, he added. “We have nothing to do with the BJP….not Azad Sahab nor any leader…I swear by God”, he added.

He also hits out at Apni Party Chairman Altaf Bukhari for calling Azad ‘A-team,’ of BJP.

He said that our first main agenda will be to restore the August 4, 2019 position to Jammu and Kashmir. (UNI)
