Suicide Bomber’s Arrest; India in touch with Russian authorities: MEA

New Delhi: External Affairs Ministry on Thursday said they are in touch with Russian authorities over the alleged suicide bomber who was planning to target a political personality in India.

“We are aware of the case, we are in touch with Russian authorities in the matter, given security implications we are not in a position to share further details,” MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said at the weekly briefing of the ministry.

Russian Federal Security Service detained an alleged Islamic State (IS) sucide bomber who was planning to target a key politician of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to reports, the bomber, Uzbek national Mashrabkon Azamov, wanted to attack an Indian politician over remarks on Prophet Mohammad. (UNI)
