Jammu: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security, J&K, Dr SD Singh Jamwal Wednesday inaugurated the newly installed machines-Wheel balancer machine, tyre changer machine, car washer, AC recovery & refilling machine, vacuum cleaner along with freshly purchased tool kits at shop floor of Security Transport Workshop, Sidhra, Jammu.
Mechanics also demonstrated the functioning of these newly installed machines, who have been imparted with the necessary trainings. To save costs, trolleys & minor working infrastructure has also been fabricated in-house at the workshop & was laid out during the inspection.
Two premier Security Transport workshops of Jammu & Kashmir police instituted at Jammu & Srinagar are catering to the repairs & maintenance of all vehicles deployed with VVIP’s, political activists as well as senior functionaries of J&K government.
Both the workshops are heavily loaded with regular servicing, wear & tear maintenance of these vehicles. Both the workshops have been put to fast infrastructure & skill up gradation.
The new initiatives have been conceived to induct new tools & install machinery with latest technology. Funds worth more than Rs 19 lacs have been allotted for procurement of machinery for STWS J&K by PHQ while nearly equal more amount has been projected for upgradation of the premier wing of J&K police.
Wheel Alignment machine & Pneumatic tools set are in the process of procurement which are likely to be installed in very near future. These machinery & tools are reducing the human efforts of skilled manpower resulting increased output of labour work. At the same time, savings in lacs will be made by more in-house repairs & maintenance of the motor vehicles fleet of the security wing of J&K police.
The skill up-gradation of manpower will also help optimum utilization of the resources. Beyond these tools, training of mechanics, camp workshop has been planned for skilled workers and tied with the company of make of vehicles to impart maintenance know-how of latest models of Scorpio vehicles including bullet resistant models.

Swaran Singh Kotwal SSP Security Jammu, Ranjit Singh Sambyal SSP Tech SHQ J&K, S Ravinder Pal Singh SSP SO to ADGP Security, Ashish Rathore CPO SHQ, Manzoor Hussain DSP Workshop Jammu were also present on the occasion.
